Neither the Draco Flying Lizard nor the Reinwardt’s Flying frog actually fly. Hailing from South Asia and Indonesia, both of these arboreal insectivores (they live in trees and eat bugs) have specialized adaptations that allow them to glide from tree to tree or down to the ground to mate. Draco lizards have modified rib bones that can extend from their sides like “wings” while Reinwardt’s frogs have enlarged webbing in their hands and feet that serve the same function. The specimens we have in the shop have been professionally mounted in sealed shadow boxes and make for a unique addition for collectors of the odd, the strange and lovers of natural history. #lizards#frogs#taxidermy#oddities#curiosities#curios#cabinetofcuriosities#naturalhistory
