When Hippies Go Hitleresque.
I am so utterly tired of the whole vax "debate", do not want to hear another word about it. If you want to be an ignorant dumbass and endanger your children, go for it. But for some reason everybody wants to debate me on this issue, like I signed up to debate anti science ignorance or something, geeezz, whatever! But then I got this message today.... I've never heard the anti-vax argument put quite this way and I'm curious if you find it as equally fascinating, horrifying and frighteningly ignorant as I do. This was from a friend who I love and respect, which makes it all the more horrifying. The argument was basically this: Any disease can be cured with a healthy diet / lifestyle, medicinal plants and loving relationships. If a child dies from any disease it is because their parents didn't love them enough and didn't feed them the right diet. Furthermore, they should die: "Cull the herd, Curmudgeon. If the parents are too self involved or unintelligent or defunct to be able to notice the child is ill and put 100% of their time and attention in to caring for the progeny until full recovery, then that lineage doesn't continue. Simple science." "...If thousands of parents have their heads up their asses, that's their problem...The diseases show who is actually capable....People who aren't taking care of themselves or do not have the relationship skills to be taken care of....Life is deadly. There's no avoiding it." You know what? Fuck it, here's the conversation. Am I over reacting, or is this fuckin cray cray?
It starts when I was sent an article about a mom and how she's suing the drug companies for making her daughter "retarded" (as it said in the article) from vaccines. I edited out names and irrelevant parts of the convo. I repeat: This is totally edited.
Forget the ridiculous ignorant bullshit belief that a healthy diet, magical plants and loving relationships will cure any disease (except for cancer, cancer is cured by a combination of psilocybin and cannabis). What about blaming parents? If their child dies from a disease it's because they didn't love them enough? How fucked up is that? What about the very Hitleresque eugenics argument that people who don't agree with these fringe new age beliefs deserve to die anyway?
We should just "cull the herd" because that's more natural? Am I reading too much into this, or did this loving, caring, open minded person just say that?
